Hackney Woodcraft Folk currently receives no regular external funding. All of our costs have to be covered by donations, either from members (subs) or from fundraising activities.
We estimate the amount the district needs to raise to cover hall rents, group registration, insurance, group and district activities, as well as storage and upkeep of our camping equipment, is £30 per young person per term (or £7.50/month by Standing Order) and suggest this as a donation.
It is really important to emphasise that this is a voluntary donation, not a fee, and that those that struggle to afford this should not be prevented from being involved. We recognise that some people may not be able to make this donation and therefore suggest a reduced donation of £20 (£5/month by SO) for siblings or those on limited income. Of course, you may choose to donate less than this (or more) if you wish.
No young person shall be excluded from any Hackney Woodcraft Folk activity due to financial hardship. If this is a concern for you, please talk to your group coordinator or the District Treasurer.
We rely on these donations to operate and are asking members to commit to making regular donations if they can, as you might do with any other charity.
Paying by Standing Order massively reduces admin for us and means you don’t need to remember.
Donating by Standing Order, payable monthly is preferred, suggested £7.50 / month.
Alternatively, if your bank will allow, you can set up a termly (4 monthly) SO
Or please make subs donation promptly at the beginning of each term by bank transfer.
For either of these, our NEW BANK DETAILS (from 1st Jan 2026) are:
